THINK About Those Acronyms!

A few days ago I wrote about the Entrepreneurial Dating site shortening their name (in their logo) down to the acronym “ED”. Problematic.

Sent to me yesterday (from Howard, one of our programmers) we see that mid-February was the annual event of the National Association of Home Builder’s — the “International Builder’s Show”, shortened to “IBS 2008″. Hmmmm … again, somebody’s not thinking!

Take a look at the event home page. We think the picture of the crowd at the top of the page is the lineup to the bathrooms.

  1. It took a while, but I finally got it - ED. You just have to watch enough TV commercials. Somehow IBS came to more quickly.

    Thanks for your presentation at the MicroCreditNH event last week. It has started me thinking and reading (books & blogs).

  2. I had another thought re: acronyms. My college sorority was Sigma Delta Tau. The acronym SDT sometimes had an unfortunate interpretation - Seldom Dated Twice. Everyone has emotional reactions to names and words. I am adding acronyms to that list.
